Purchasing and planting the wrong trees, shrubs, grasses, etc. costs money in the short and the long term. Landscaping in a way that does not conserve and that is not environmentally friendly, saps your time throughout the process in terms of planting, maintaining, pruning, and eventually, replacing. Misplanted trees and shrubs are destructive. Their root structures elevate sidewalks and foundations. They, also, can scratch windows and cause erosion of topsoil. Poorly chosen plants overgrow, requiring more maintenance, requiring more man-hours, more wear and tear on equipment, and more fuel. More time is needed to manage this type of design, which takes time away from more important things that affect our lives. We have less control over the quality of the landscape, over the quality of our time, and, ultimately, over the quality of our lives. All of this ends up being compromised by poor landscaping design.

To provide green industry education, leadership & resources that promote environmental responsibility, professionalism & public awareness.
